Re: Englands leading goal scorer
Yes it is relevant. You and others keep implying that a benchmark of being a great player is contributing to winning trophies for a team.

I just gave you an example of that not always being the case.

There’s plenty of great players that have really good stats but haven’t won much much in their careers who were capable of playing for better teams and winning trophies.

Brooking is one of them and I believe Kane is another.

Side of Ham 8:25 Tue Mar 28
Re: Englands leading goal scorer
Nope it isn't relevant to the point deal was trying to make.....you are just trying to save face.....you've failed miserably.....

swindon hammer 8:22 Tue Mar 28
Re: Englands leading goal scorer
Still relevant Side because Brooking like Kane played in a team that mostly hasn’t been successful. Are we saying Brooking couldn’t be a world class player or be as good as Robson, Souness because he didn’t move to a big team who were already successful?

Joining clubs that are already successful and helping them continue winning trophies isn’t a sign that they are better than someone that remains at a lesser club.

Maybe more ambitious but not better.

If only Arnautovic went to a club that signed 4 or 5 stars to help him then we would be talking about him being world class as well!

Side of Ham 8:12 Tue Mar 28
Re: Englands leading goal scorer
No Swindon you thick cunt.......he (dealcanvey) named some top players that Kane has a better stat than, but all the players he had this better stat than had not only won trophies but played a huge part in their team achieving their trophies.....next time read through so you don't mug yourself off.....

swindon hammer 8:09 Tue Mar 28
Re: Englands leading goal scorer
James Milner has won Champions league, Premier League, FA Cup & League cup winners medals.

Trevor Brooking only has FA Cup winners medals.

That means James Milner is a better player than Trevor Brooking was.

Is that how it works Side?

Side of Ham 7:54 Tue Mar 28
Re: Englands leading goal scorer
So deal, a stat is more key to being World Class than actually being part of winning trophies....it's you who's doing the clutching sunshine......

Nope, all those others actually have medals to show for their efforts AND made the difference to their teams winning those medals.....not a 0. stat ffs.....

Yep one of England’s best teams has just 2 English players. It’s almost like their success is mainly due to their foreign players!

TAA didn’t make the squad because he can’t defend and gets exposed at International level.

The past 18 months have shown he gets exposed at club level as well. The majority of Liverpool fans will tell you that.

Walker

Mount
James
Chilwell

all started the game.

CL final 2022.

two English players started for Liverpool, one captained them that night.
TAA coudlnt make the England squad, such was the depth of talent.
Henderson couldnt make the starting line-up.

England's squad was so good they could afford to leave CL finalist out.

Re: Englands leading goal scorer
Italy played their first 3 games in Rome.
and yet England, France, Belgium and Germany were fancied above them.

Veratti would not get into the current England side - he's been underwhelming at PSG and for Italy. Italy's best performances in that tournament were without him.
Phillips has largely been injured for City, but I think Pep knows how to pick a player.

Maguire is better than a 38 year old Chiellini.
Calvert Lewin (when fit) is a better player than Belotti and would walk into the current set-up ahead of Scamacca.

For context, the same group of players lost to north macedonia and failed to qualify for the world cup. Meanwhile and England team featuring Phillips and Maguire strolled to qualification and ran France close............ if only Kane could step up when it counts.

Milan lost to Chelsea twice.
Inter lost to Bayern twice and snuck past Porto (who got a player sent off in each leg).

swindon hammer 6:12 Tue Mar 28
Re: Englands leading goal scorer
“Milan are poor”
“Inter are poor”

And yet they have both done better in Europe than some English teams.

“How many Napoli players started for Italy? One”

That’s funny goose because you used Liverpool as an example of being one of the best teams in Europe.

How many Liverpool players started for England?

That’s right the answer is none.
